August 2018 Newsletter

August 3, 2018 - 8:15am

Enjoy that one last roller coaster ride, one last dive in the pool and one last night to stay up late of the summer- because it’s Back-to-School time!

Be sure to download BSF’s back-to-school printables for your first day of school, and make sure to post them and tag us! We want to see all of the smiling (and hopefully not sad) faces!

New School? New School Year!

Find out 5 ways military families can totally rock the new school year!

My big takeaway: You catch more bees with honey than vinegar… Or what we called it in my early ed classes in college- give the compliment sandwich. Compliment, the negative aspect you would like addressed, compliment.

Don’t miss out! Parents, sneak in some education and fun!

We are down to our last few weeks of summer, and that, unfortunately, means the 2018 Blue Star Museums season will end on Labor Day too! Make sure to get in all of your free visits while there is still time left. Find a museum near you!

PCS debrief

Thankfully the PCS season is winding down, and for so many of us, we have this new life we were thrown into just when we got settled into our old one. Sometimes, moving just stinks. We get it- but maybe, just maybe try to look at the positives. That’s what Carla Olivo, Military spouse from PCSgrades tries to do, and she is sharing her helpful tips with you here.

Purple Heart Day

Every Veterans Day and Memorial Day, Americans think about those who risk their lives to keep our freedoms intact. On August 7th, let’s remember and send our appreciation to those who were wounded for those freedoms because it is Purple Heart Day, and these men and women deserve all our love. Be sure to repost our SM post and share the love on August 7th.

Sometimes, being a military spouse usually means it’s harder (and sometimes impossible) to find your dream job.
